Description

Overhead power cables are a significant hazard in gutter cleaning, and carbon poles conduct electricity. The skyVac™ S-Guard pole is a 1.5m glass fibre section that goes at the base of the pole system, so the bottom of the set is a tested glass fibre pole rather than carbon.

Every S-Guard pole is independently tested to 50,000 volts for 3 minutes to recognised transmission line standards, and carries an Earthco test label for traceability. Load testing confirms the glass fibre keeps the strength of the standard poles, for a small weight increase.

  • 44mm Elevate: fits skyVac Elevate 44mm and Standard 44mm push fit poles. 388g
  • 50mm Elite: fits skyVac Elite and Premium 50mm clamped poles, such as the skyVac™ Elite Pole Sections. 410g
  • 50mm Vac Release: the Elite fit with the patented Vac-Release suction control of the skyVac™ Elite Vac Release pole. 500g

One S-Guard pole adds protection; two together at the base give the most. They lower the risk of current running down the pole to you if it touches or arcs to an overhead cable, but they do not make it safe to work closer to a line than your risk assessment allows. Not sure which fits your poles? Talk to our team before you order.

RECENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does an S-Guard pole do?

It is a 1.5m glass fibre section that goes at the base of a skyVac pole system. Every S-Guard pole is tested to 50,000 volts for 3 minutes to recognised transmission line standards, and it helps reduce the risk of current passing down the pole to you if the poles touch or arc to an overhead cable. It is extra protection, not permission to work near a line.

Which S-Guard pole fits my skyVac?

Match it to the poles you already use. The 44mm Elevate fits skyVac Elevate 44mm poles and skyVac Standard 44mm push fit poles. The 50mm Elite fits skyVac Elite poles and skyVac Premium 50mm clamped poles, such as the skyVac Elite pole sections. The 50mm Vac Release fits the skyVac Elite and Premium 50mm clamped pole packages. If you are not sure which you have, talk to our team first.

Do I need one S-Guard pole or two?

One adds protection at the base of the system. For the most benefit, use two S-Guard poles together at the base. Order two of the same pole if you want that setup.

What is the Earthco test label?

Each approved S-Guard pole carries an Earthco test label. It gives visible confirmation that the pole has been tested, with traceability and authorisation.

How is the Vac Release version different?

It has skyVac's patented Vac-Release mechanism built in: a simple twist controls the suction, so you can manage it while you work. It is the same mechanism as the carbon skyVac Elite Vac Release pole, on a glass fibre S-Guard section, and weighs 500g against 410g for the plain 50mm Elite.

Do S-Guard poles make it safe to work near overhead power lines?

No. They lower the risk of current running down the pole to you if it touches or arcs to an overhead cable, but they do not make it safe to work closer to a line than your risk assessment allows. Plan the job, keep your clearance, and read our guidance for window cleaners and overhead power lines before working anywhere near a line.
