Description

Work near overhead power lines puts an electrical hazard on the risk assessment, and an ordinary work glove does nothing about it. The Tilsatec Pulse® Class 2 gloves are electrical insulating gloves with a maximum use voltage of 17,000V AC, certified to both EN 60903 and ASTM D120.

They are 100% natural rubber latex and 36cm (14 inches) long. Shaped fingers help you keep grip and control, and the smooth finish makes them easier to pull on and off at the end of a job.

  • Class 2: maximum use voltage 17,000V AC
  • Dual certified: EN 60903 and ASTM D120
  • Natural rubber latex, black with a red edge at the cuff
  • Sizes 8 to 11, sold as one pair

Insulating gloves stop current passing through your hands if you touch something live, up to their 17,000V AC rating. They do not make it safe to work closer to a line than your risk assessment allows, so plan the job and keep your clearance. For your feet, the Skellerup Quatro Dielectric Thermal Safety Boots are Class 2 as well. Not sure they are right for your work? Talk to our team before you order.

Safety

Assess the risks before every job and follow your safety procedures. These gloves do not replace keeping a safe distance from overhead power lines.

Before every use: blow air into each glove to check for leaks, and look them over inside and out. If either glove leaks or shows any wear or damage, do not use the pair.

Testing: Class 2 gloves must be dielectric tested every 6 months from first use, and must not be used if they have not been tested within the previous 12 months.

Storage: keep them in their packaging between 10°C and 35°C, away from moisture, sunlight, heat and sharp objects, and do not fold or crush them.

Care: keep them away from oil, grease, white spirit, turpentine and strong acids. They contain natural rubber latex, which may cause an allergic reaction.

RECENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does Class 2 mean on electrical insulating gloves?

Class 2 is the rating for insulating gloves with a maximum use voltage of 17,000V AC. The classes run from 00, the lowest, up to 4, and the class tells you the highest voltage the glove is rated to be used at. These Pulse gloves carry the Class 2 rating under both EN 60903 and the American standard ASTM D120. Your risk assessment should set the class you need, so check it before you order.

Do these gloves make it safe to work near overhead power lines?

No glove does that on its own. Insulating gloves stop current passing through your hands up to their 17,000V AC rating, but they do not make it safe to work closer to a line than your risk assessment allows. Plan the job first, keep your clearance, and read our guidance for window cleaners and overhead power lines before working anywhere near a line.

What sizes are the gloves available in?

Sizes 8, 9, 10 and 11, each sold as one pair. These are standard glove sizes, so as a rough guide, measure your working hand:

  • Size 8: 203mm around the hand, 182mm long
  • Size 9: 229mm around the hand, 192mm long
  • Size 10: 254mm around the hand, 204mm long
  • Size 11: 279mm around the hand, 215mm long

Measure around the palm at the knuckles, thumb not included, and from the crease of the wrist to the tip of the middle finger. If you are still not sure, talk to our team before you order.

What are Tilsatec Pulse gloves made from?

They are 100% natural high grade rubber latex, with shaped fingers and a smooth finish. The rubber stays flexible enough to keep grip and control, and the smooth finish makes the gloves easier to pull on and off. Because they are natural rubber latex, check before use if you have a latex allergy.

How long are the gloves?

They are 36cm (14 inches) long, in black with a red edge at the cuff.

Do electrical insulating gloves need testing?

Yes. Class 2 gloves must be dielectric tested every 6 months from first use, and should not be used if they have not been tested within the previous 12 months. On top of that, check them yourself before every use: blow air into each glove to find any leaks, then look them over inside and out. If either glove fails, take the pair out of use. The full instructions are in the Tilsatec spec sheet.
