Description

FaceLift is our own brand, and this resin is produced exclusively for us by Spectrum. It is a virgin mixed bed ion exchange resin: strong acid cation and strong base anion beads blended in one bag, ready to pour, which purifies hard or soft water down to 0 ppm.

The grade goes well beyond what glass asks of it. It suits applications that need water down to 0.1 microSiemens per centimetre of conductivity, which is laboratory territory, so a spot free rinse is comfortably inside its range. Spectrum also make the DI Resin Vessels we sell, so the resin and the vessel come from the same place.

Loose fill suits any standard DI vessel, refillable cartridge or filter housing, and every FaceLift window cleaning system. A 25 litre bag fills a 25L vessel in one go, or an 11L vessel twice with a little left over.

Resin life is longest when it works as the polisher after a reverse osmosis stage rather than taking raw tap water on its own, which is the setup most cleaners in hard water areas end up with. Either way, a TDS meter on the output tells you when the bed is spent.

Window cleaning is the common use, not the only one. The same purity is wanted for cleaning glassware, for stain prevention in the glazing industry and for lab water, and the rest of the mixed bed resin range covers those jobs too.

If any gets in your eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if they are present and easy to remove, keep rinsing, and call a poison centre or a doctor immediately. Full hazard information is printed on the bag.

RECENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who makes FaceLift resin?

Spectrum produce it exclusively for FaceLift, and the bag is labelled that way. Spectrum also manufacture the DI resin vessels we sell, so if you buy both, the resin and the vessel come from the same manufacturer.

Does it work in hard water areas?

Yes, it purifies hard or soft water down to 0 ppm. The difference hard water makes is how fast the bed exhausts: more dissolved minerals means more work for the resin and a shorter life per fill. Most cleaners in hard water areas put an RO membrane in front and let the resin polish the last few ppm, which stretches a bag a long way.

How does it compare with the Unger and Tulsion resins?

All three are virgin mixed bed ion exchange resin, so the chemistry and the end result are the same and the choice comes down to price per bag and brand preference. FaceLift is our own brand, produced by Spectrum; the other two are the manufacturers' own. All of them sit together in the mixed bed resin range.

Can I use it for anything besides window cleaning?

Yes. The job is the same wherever water needs to be free of dissolved solids: cleaning glassware, stain prevention in the glazing industry, laboratory water and spot free rinsing all use the same resin. It suits applications needing water down to 0.1 microSiemens per centimetre, which is well beyond what glass requires. For smaller setups a refillable cartridge takes the same loose resin.

Is resin safe to handle?

Treat it with respect: the bag carries a DANGER label because the resin causes serious eye damage. Wear eye protection and gloves when filling a vessel, and pour with the bag low rather than at head height. If any gets in your eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if easy to do, and call a poison centre or doctor. The Safety section on this page has the detail.
