Description

A DI vessel is the simplest pure water setup there is: a pressure vessel filled with mixed bed resin, plumbed between the water supply and the pole. In a soft water area one vessel can be the whole system. In a hard water area the same vessel sits after an RO membrane and polishes the last few ppm out.

These are Spectrum SV-FK pressure vessels, supplied empty so you choose the resin. Both are 8 inches in diameter: the 11L stands 17 inches and holds 10.5 litres of resin, the 25L stands 35 inches and holds 23.6 litres. The shell is fibreglass over an HDPE liner, water contact parts are food grade, and the standard head carries 3/4 inch female ports with a 2.5 inch filling neck.

Rated to 10.5 bar, so mains pressure and pumped feeds are both well inside its limits. Filling is easier with the Blue Resin Funnel, and a TDS meter confirms the output is at 0 ppm before you start cleaning.

RECENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a DI vessel?

A DI vessel is a pressure vessel filled with mixed bed deionising resin. Water passes through the resin bed, the dissolved minerals are captured, and it leaves the vessel at 0 ppm, ready for spot free window cleaning. In a soft water area a single vessel can be the whole purification system; in a hard water area it usually sits after an RO membrane as the polishing stage.

Do these vessels come with resin?

No, they are supplied empty so you choose the resin, and any mixed bed resin works. A 25 litre bag such as FaceLift Resin fills the 25L vessel in one go, or the 11L vessel twice over with some to spare.

Which size should I pick?

The 25L holds more than twice the resin, so it runs far longer between changes and suits daily pure water work or the polishing stage on a van system. The 11L is shorter and easier to place, and suits lighter use or tighter layouts. Your water hardness matters more than either: in a hard water area with no RO stage, even the 25L will exhaust quickly.

How do I fill the vessel?

Unscrew the head, pour the resin in through a funnel and leave a little space at the top, then refit the head and run water through briefly before checking the output. The filling neck is 2.5 inches, so the Blue Resin Funnel makes the pour a much cleaner job.

How do I mount it in a van?

The DI Resin Vessel Holder in its 8 inch size fits both vessels. It is a rubber lined clamp with an adjustable circumference and an M8 threaded anchor point for fixing to a wall or tank; the threaded bar itself is not included.

What fittings do the ports take?

The standard head has 3/4 inch female ports. The usual setup is a Hozelock male to 3/4 inch threaded connector in each port, so the vessel connects to ordinary hose fittings, with a brass version available if you prefer metal.

How long will the resin last?

Resin exhausts by capturing minerals, so life depends on your incoming water and how much of it you use. Soft water can mean months from one fill; hard water with no RO stage can mean weeks. Check the output with a TDS meter and change the resin when the reading starts climbing.
